Box cars are used for the transportation of freight, which requires protection from the weather. The carriage body of a box car is a construction consisting of a frame with a floor, 4 walls and a roof. Universal box car loading and unloading is performed through doors located in the side walls.

Gondola cars are used for transportation of freight, not requiring protection from the weather. As gondola cars have no roof, it allows for complete mechanised loading. For the transportation of bulk freight, there are gondola cars with hatches located in the floor. This allows mechanised unloading of freight.

Platforms are carriages used for the transportation of cars, equipment, long-length goods, containers and bulk freight, not requiring protection from the weather.
Container platforms do not have sides and are equipped with special locks for securing heavy universal containers of any type.
Platforms for timber transportation have end walls and additional special studs that prevent displacement of freight.
